A sampling savant, Witzig has a knack for all things soulful, jazzy, and even funky (itself relatively progressive in the company of throwback jazz and soul). Horns, porcelain-rouged songbirds, raw snare lines, and sexed-up sax wrapped tight by the familiar bump of hip-hop bass, TSD’s work is a glimpse of the past through the lens of the future. Funk-breaks are a dime a dozen, but the baker behind these boards can get a considerably higher price for his beat-based goods. Somewhere out there a doughboy is giggling."
